Hyde Mela 2026: Celebrating Unity, Culture and Community
Mizanur Rahman Mizan : Hyde Mela was first established in 2021 by a dedicated group of community-minded individuals from Hyde with a shared vision of bringing people together through culture, friendship, and community spirit. Since its inception, the Mela has grown from strength to strength and has successfully completed five consecutive years, becoming one of the area’s most anticipated multicultural community events.
Every year, thousands of people from diverse backgrounds and communities attend the Mela. One of its most remarkable features is its ability to bring together people of all ages—children, young people, adults, and senior citizens—in a joyful and welcoming atmosphere where everyone can celebrate as one community.
Following tradition, this year’s Hyde Mela will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until 5:00 PM. Visitors can look forward to a fantastic day filled with entertainment, culture, and family-friendly activities. The event will feature a wide variety of food stalls, community and business stalls, shopping opportunities, a bouncy castle for children, classic car displays, and live music representing different cultures from around the world.

We warmly welcome visitors from Hyde and beyond, and we hope everyone attending from different towns and cities will enjoy this unique celebration.
The core purpose of Hyde Mela is to promote unity within our multicultural society. We believe that regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or background, people should have opportunities to come together, celebrate diversity, and enjoy each other’s company. Since its foundation in 2021, Hyde Mela has been dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where communities can connect, build friendships, and strengthen social bonds.
The Mela also plays an important role in inspiring the younger generation. Through events like Hyde Mela, we encourage our children and young people to embrace diversity, appreciate different cultures, and grow up with values of respect, understanding, and community cohesion. By learning from one another and celebrating our differences, we can continue to contribute to a stronger and more prosperous Britain.
Another significant benefit of the Mela is its support for local businesses. The event provides valuable opportunities for traders, entrepreneurs, and community organisations to showcase their products, services, and brands to thousands of visitors, helping them connect with the wider public and grow their presence within the community.
This year, weather permitting, we are expecting more than 5,000 visitors to attend the event.
The Hyde Mela Committee includes Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Councillor Hugh Roderick, former Councillor Betty Affleck, former Councillor Shibly Alam, former Councillor Peter Robinson, Mohammad Khan Suayeb, and Mahiuddin Selim. Together, we share a common goal: to strengthen community ties, foster mutual respect, and create lasting friendships through Hyde Mela.
On behalf of the Hyde Mela Committee, we warmly invite everyone to join us on 26 July. Bring your family and friends, enjoy a wonderful day of culture and entertainment, and help make this year’s Mela vibrant and memorable. Your participation will help strengthen the bonds within our community and contribute to the spirit of unity that Hyde Mela proudly represents.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Hyde Mela 2026.
