BBCCI Delegation Meets Bangladesh Communications Minister in London to Strengthen Trade and Investment Ties
Mizanur Rahman Mizan : A delegation from the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BBCCI) held a courtesy meeting this afternoon with the Honourable Minister for Communications of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Robiul Alam, during his official visit to London. The meeting took place at a hotel in West London.
The BBCCI delegation was led by the Chamber’s newly elected Director General, Musleh Ahmed. He was accompanied by members of the newly elected Executive Committee and the Chamber’s Senior Directors. Also in attendance were former BBCCI Presidents Matab Chowdhury and Saidur Rahman Renu, Director Shafiqul Islam, Director Golam Kibria Oyes, and Mr Gordon Dickie, Chairman of IM Power PLC, a British company exploring potential investment opportunities in Bangladesh’s railway sector.
The courtesy meeting provided an important opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between the Government of Bangladesh and the British Bangladeshi business community in the United Kingdom. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral trade and investment, improving transport and communications infrastructure, strengthening connectivity, and expanding overall economic cooperation between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, the BBCCI delegation reaffirmed the Chamber’s continued commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s sustainable economic development. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), developing transport and communications infrastructure, expanding digital connectivity, and increasing the engagement of the UK-based Bangladeshi business community.

The delegation highlighted the significant contribution of British Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to the economies of both countries and expressed its strong interest in working closely with the Ministry of Communications and other relevant government agencies to promote greater investment, expand business collaboration, and support sustainable economic growth.
The Honourable Minister welcomed the delegation and commended BBCCI for its longstanding contribution to promoting trade and investment between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. He expressed his appreciation for the continued support of the British Bangladeshi business community and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to developing modern transport infrastructure, enhancing the communications network, and creating a more investment-friendly business environment.
Following the meeting, BBCCI Director General Musleh Ahmed said “The British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry has always served as an effective bridge between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh. We sincerely appreciate the Honourable Minister for his valuable time and the constructive exchange of views. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue and strengthen cooperation between the Government of Bangladesh, BBCCI, and the wider business community to advance the mutual economic interests of both nations. They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and partnership between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
